The fiber optic cable is meticulously engineered to ensure optimal performance and durability. The construction process begins with the positioning of optical fibers within a loose tube made of high modulus plastic, which is filled with a protective gel. This gel serves to shield the fibers from environmental stresses and mechanical impacts.
Next, these tubes, along with any necessary fillers, are carefully stranded around a central metallic strength member. This central member provides essential structural support to the cable.
The resulting cable core is then wrapped in a longitudinally applied steel tape (CST) armor. This steel tape offers enhanced mechanical protection, safeguarding the core from physical damage.
To further protect against environmental factors, the cable core is filled with a water-blocking compound, effectively preventing water ingress and potential damage to the fibers.
Finally, an outer jacket made of polyethylene (PE) is extruded over the armored core. This PE jacket provides an additional layer of protection, ensuring the cable's longevity and reliability in various conditions.
